Grenadier sabre M/1753

Length of blade: 59,6 cm

Width of blade: 3,1 cm

Weight: 0,92 kg

Length: 76 cm

This is the most widely used sabre in the danish-norwegian army in the last part of the 18th century. The ski troopers in Søndefjellske battalion most probably used this sabre. It proved to be unpractical for skiers, as the wide hilt hindered the movement of the arm when skiing, and the hilt was modified.
