Hirschfänger

This Hirschfänger  was found in the river Glomma near by Deset in Åmot about 1939. Found by two boys fishing in a former ford, the weapon may have been lost by soldiers crossing the river. This may be the sideweapon used by the ski troops in the years 1747-1775.

Close ups reveals the crude finish on the weapon. The hilt is otherwise well preserved.
