The bread bag was originally made of canvas, but the troopers of Elverumske company are in 1800 known to have breadbags made of sackcloth, probably of economical reasons. The bread bag was supposed to contain knife, spoon, butterbox, a bowl or a plate and a mug in addition to the food the trooper might have.
